The research on environmental protection shopping bags at home and abroad originates from the enormous pollution that plastic shopping bags bring to the environment day by day. In terms of research time, foreign countries have entered this field much earlier than domestic ones. During the green design movement in the 1950s and 1960s, the United States had already paid attention to the environmental hazards caused by plastic shopping bags. In China, it began to pay attention to this problem after 2000 years, which is mainly due to the fact that the level of economic and social development of our country lags behind that of developed countries.
1. Domestic Research on the Design of Environmental Protection Shopping Bags The relative backwardness of economy and the lack of national environmental awareness make the research of environmental shopping bags in China start late. With the deterioration of domestic environment, it was not until around 2005 that China began to pay attention to the environmental hazards caused by plastic shopping bags. After research and discussion, the General Office of the State Council of the People's Republic of China finally issued the Notice of the General Office of the State Council on Restricting the Production and Sale of Plastic Shopping Bags on December 31, 2007. The issuance of this notice has a tremendous impact on the production and use of plastic bags in our country, which has aroused great concern of enterprises and citizens, and at the same time has set off an upsurge of research and Discussion on environmental protection issues in our country. After 2007, the research on supermarket shopping bags began to appear in our country. Some related academic papers began to appear in newspapers and periodicals. Some colleges and institutions also carried out many competitions and discussions on the design of supermarket shopping bags. Through the collection and analysis of relevant literature, it is found that there are few special studies on visual design in this field. Some scattered studies on the visual design of supermarket shopping bags are mostly carried out in some achievements of packaging design. Recently, domestic research on supermarket environmental shopping bags began to turn to the field of visual aesthetics, such as Zhan Wenyao's "New Fashion in Handbag Design" (2012) and Zhang Jing's "Preliminary Study on Visual Communication and Visual Thinking of Shopping Bags" (2013), which discussed the visual design of environmental shopping bags, but did not from the perspective of the principle of positive-to-visual communication. The design of supermarket environmental shopping bags is discussed in depth and systematically.
2. Research on the Design of Environmental Protection Shopping Bags Abroad Plastic bags are recognized as one of the worst inventions in the world, and their appearance has forced us to bow our heads in the face of the environment and health. Appeals to reduce the use of plastic bags in order to reduce environmental hazards, foreign countries in the middle of the last century after the rise of Popper design green design movement has begun. (1) In related fields, the United States and Japan are in the forefront of the world, carrying out a variety of research, including the harm of plastic bags to the environment, the impact of food pollution caused by shopping bags on human health, and so on. San Francisco became the first city in the world to ban the use of plastic bags in supermarkets and drugstores, and the first city to legislate on it. Japan also enacted the Basic Environmental Law as early as 1993, and promulgated a series of bills such as the Classified Collection and Circulation of Containers and Packages Act in 1995. The U.S. Chemical Commission has supported research on cross-contamination of reusable environmentally friendly shopping bags due to improper use. Universities such as the University of Arizona and the University of Loma Linda have also studied consumer use of shopping bags.
3. Research and comparison of environmental protection shopping bag design at home and abroad In summary, the domestic research on supermarket environmental shopping bags is relatively late, the research field is relatively narrow, and the research on visual image design of supermarket environmental shopping bags is insufficient. In foreign research, there are many research results on the environmental and human hazards of plastic bags in relevant laws and regulations, but the research on the design of supermarket environmental shopping bags has not established a systematic principle system.
